Dar

2007 - 2025

Dar's age is approximate. She was born in the winter, just after New Years. Her mother belonged to a friend of mine, and I was present for her birth since I had experience. Dar was one of four kittens, and her mother dragged them all onto the bed in the middle of the night, laying them clumsily over us as we slept. I remember waking up to the tiny squeaks of newborn kittens, and Dar was on my chest, still wet and letting out tiny chirps for her mom. I held her to my skin for warmth, and my friend hurriedly moved everyone else back to the "nest" area. Dar was last to go back, finally warm and quiet.
I would end up with Dar because all the other kittens were spoken for. Nobody wanted the "orange one". I was still trying to get my mom on board, but when she came over to meet the kittens and held baby Dar, she was hooked.
I still can't believe nobody wanted her. She was beautiful, and the best little furbaby.

Dar was like sunshine, smelled like autumn sweets, and she always spoke her mind. She was happiest in the company of her human (me). We made dandelion jam together, baked pies and cookies, and lots more in the kitchen; I pulled up a chair so she could see what i was doing, and she was captivated by the process. She loved to watch whenever her human dealt in witchcraft or magics. Reiki was her favorite, as it involved being held and loved within a warm loving embrace. She was the most social and cuddly cat i have ever known.

Dar liked to watch tv, streams, and videos online; her favorite was kallmekris. She liked to be a part of all my activities, often sitting on my lap while I played videogames with friends, crocheted, or anything, really. There was nothing I could do that she wasn't a part of. I stopped drawing because she took a liking to pencils/pens, attacking them and playing with them. I now wish I had adapted a sort of "Dar Art" out of this... She would have made beautiful abstract pieces.

Dar passed away April 17th, 2025 due to advanced kidney disease and failure. She was humanely euthanized while held in the arms of her favorite person, receiving love and kisses, pets, and sweet praises. She crossed the rainbow bridge, but this is not goodbye...more like, see you later, my beloved friend.
