In Loving Memory of Otis
Otis was so much more than a dog. He was family, a best friend, a constant companion, and one of the most meaningful parts of my life. From the moment he came into our world, he brought warmth, joy, loyalty, and love that filled every corner of our home.
Otis had a way of being present that words can barely capture. He was there through long days, late nights, stressful seasons, and some of the most important milestones of my life. He helped carry me through school, through the pressure and uncertainty of becoming who I was trying to become, and through the many quiet moments when I needed comfort more than anything else. In his own gentle and loyal way, he reminded me to keep going.
He saw me grow. He saw me work, struggle, achieve, and change. He was there as I became a psychologist, built my life, got married, and began a family. He was part of the story before so many chapters had even been written. He witnessed love grow in our home, stood beside us as we built our marriage, and was there when we welcomed our first child. Otis was not just present for those milestones; he was woven into them.
Every day of his life with us, Otis was loved. Deeply, completely, and without hesitation. He was celebrated in the ordinary moments: the walks, the routines, the quiet time together, the way he looked at us, the way he made the house feel whole. He gave us the kind of love that was steady, uncomplicated, and pure. In return, we tried to give him a life where he always knew he was safe, cherished, and adored.
Otis had a beautiful spirit. He was gentle, loyal, loving, and full of personality. He made hard days easier and good days even better. His presence brought comfort in ways that only he could. He had a gift for making life feel softer. He was there without judgment, without expectation, and with a love that never wavered.
Losing Otis leaves an ache that reflects just how much he meant. The grief is so deep because the bond was so real. He was not “just a dog.” He was my best friend. He was part of my heart, part of my family, and part of the life I built.
Otis will always be remembered with love, gratitude, and tenderness. His pawprints are everywhere: in our home, in our memories, in the milestones he shared with us, and in the person I became with him by my side.
He was loved every single day of his life with us.
And he always will be.
