Zowie Richardson

8/11/2011 - 2/5/2022

"Zowie was a purebred boxer who never knew a stranger. She loved everyone she came in contact with. She was always happy to have visitors and would meet you at the door with a wiggly nub of a tail. She had many friends who loved her like their own.
Zowie was our 'baby' and our 'pretty girl'. Zowie was a red fawn with a black mask and knew she was a 'pretty girl'. Like any baby girl in a family she had her parents wrapped around her paw and was loved and spoiled beyond measure. Her momma bought a minivan just for her.
She definitely was daddy's girl. It did not matter how many times mom told her it was time to go outside or go to bed she would always have a stubborn streak. As soon as dad spoke and said it was time she would hop right up and follow his direction. She loved to cuddle! She would cuddle with dad in the winter because he was always hot and momma in the summer because she liked it cooler when it was so hot outside.
Zowie, like any 'daughter', had a drama queen side to her. If there was a time mom and dad told her to wait or it was not time to eat yet she would make sure everyone knew she was not happy. She would hop up on the couch and throw herself down and let out a BIG SIGH. It was clear the world must revolve around her....most of the time it did, but there were times.
She loved “playing" with her dad. Loved being chased around the table outside and just rough housing. One of her ultimate favorites was going outside the gate and running in the front yard antagonizing dad to chase her. She loved going to the basement and playing hide and seek with dad around the table. You knew she was loving every minute because the hair on her back right by her tail would stand up
Summer time was her favorite season.....momma was on summer break and it was peak season for STRAWBERRIES! Every time mom was cutting strawberries Zowie was up on the counter to make sure momma knew she needed to sample. You know, to make sure they were safe for everyone else to eat.
It was always 2 for her, 1 for momma, and 1 for the bowl for others to eat. Strawberries were even better if paired with bananas..... The same way her momma would eat them.
Zowie, also known as Zowers, also loved Christmas. She knew exactly where her stocking was hung. Like all kids, she was curious about what she was getting. She would poke her stocking with her nose and look at you with those eyes: Is it time? Can I open my stocking? I know I have good stuff in there. I can't wait til Christmas. PLEASE MOM!
It was one of the hardest decisions we had to make, pretty girl. Your body was worn out before we were ready for you to go. Momma, Daddy, and Mathew (hooman brother) miss you like crazy. There are so many more memories and words to describe how amazing you were. Our lives seem quiet and empty without you, pretty girl. We will shed tears for you are not with us on earth. We know you are no longer in pain, no more seizures, or confusion why your body will not do what you want it to. Run free pretty girl, we'll see you when we get there. Love always and forever: Momma, Daddy, Mathew, and Liz."
